HARDWICK RETURNS TO DONCASTER EAST

Jason Hardwick has been announced the new coach of the Doncaster East FC. Jason is no stranger to the club, as he was senior coach in 2008 – taking over from Cameron Gillett in the preseason.

Hardwick will be looking to once again consolidate the Lions place in division two as he did in 2008. After winning the division three premiership after numerous attempts (of which Hardwick was assistant coach) Doncaster East made a positive start to their history in division two in 2008, finishing the season in seventh position with a nine win and nine loss record.

Gillett had taken Doncaster East to a premiership in 2007, before a change of residence forced him to relinquish the coaching reigns to assistant coach Jason Hardwick early in the 2008 preseason. Unlike his first coaching stint at the club, Hardwick will this time be able to utilise a full preseason as senior coach, and try to help Doncaster East to their first division two finals series. Doncaster East finished in seventh spot again this year, but finished with two less wins (seven wins / 11 defeats).

Hardwick will be the sixth coaching change in as many years for Doncaster East, having had a new coach every year since Paris Harvie departed at the end of 2005. Since then Ben Holmes (2006), Cameron Gillett (2007), Hardwick (2008) and Brad Hall (2009) have all had one year tenures as coaches.
