JETS APPOINT BUCKLE AS NEW COACH
Heathmont have appointed Steve Buckle as their senior coach for season 2010.
Buckle joined the Jets this season after transferring from Redlands (QFL) with Mick Aitken. He has played predominantly as a half back flanker and has quickly earned the respect of the playing group, committee and supporters alike with his great skills and determination.
He has played the majority of his senior football in the amateurs, with over 200 games for St Leos. He received many accolades in his time at that club, winning two best and fairest awards, three times runner up best and fairest, holding the captaincy and winning a premiership with them.
He has also won an Amateur Association best and fairest, was a regular representative of the Amateur State side from 2000 to 2007 including roles as captain and vice captain, and was also selected for the Amateur Association team of the yeur four times during that period.
The club also wishes to thank 2009 coach Gareth Woodcock. Due to increasing family commitments, Woodcock had to step down as senior coach at the end of the 2009 season and the club thanks him for all his efforts as a player and coach, and wishes him and Ange all the best for the arrival of twins in October.
Heathmont are delighted to have secured Buckle’s services for the 2010 season and look forward to supporting him as he continues where Gareth leaves off, developing the young Jets side for future success as the club returns to division four after relegation this year.
