EFL BYLAW CHANGES

Here is a summary of some of the bylaw and administrative changes ahead in season 2010.

1.     Footballs- Sherrin Kangaroo Brand Footballs must be used in senior (not compulsory in reserves and colts) games.

2.     Interchange Numbers- Senior teams will be permitted a maximum of 4 players on the interchange bench – this number is increasing from 3 interchange players in previous years.

3.     Head Counts- After a review of the head count rule, the following changes have been made. If a team is found to have in excess of 18 players on the field following a head count, a free kick will be awarded to the opposing team on their goal line. The offending team WILL NOT lose all their score up until that time. The circumstances surrounding the head count will also be referred to the EFL Board for consideration.

4.     Trainers and drink carriers- Fence stations for trainers and drink carriers will be positioned around the ground and these officials must be based out of these. This was trialed during the 2009 finals series and was found to be successful.

5.     Seniors teams online- As an extension to the trial well supported by clubs in 2009, all clubs must submit their senior team online which will be published on the EFL website each Friday afternoon.

6.     Injured players leaving the ground- In the senior, reserves, colts, vets, thirds and junior competitions, players must enter and exit the ground through the interchange area. Injured players wishing to return to the field can no longer be escorted from the ground anywhere on the field by a trainer. All players being interchanged during play, whether injured, under the blood rule, a send off or an interchange must leave and enter the field through the interchange area.
